Who We Are

One hundred fifty years ago, Americans who had gathered to protest the expansion of slavery gave birth to a political party that would save the Union - the Republican Party.

In 1860, Abraham Lincoln of Illinois was elected the Party's first President. He became the nation's greatest leader... and one of our Party's greatest heroes.

Everyday, we strive to fulfill Lincoln's visions: a country united and free in which all people are guaranteed equal rights and the opportunity to pursue their dreams. His legacy goes beyond the borders of America. It can be seen in free governments all over the world.

Today, the College Republicans of Newark Campus join with the Ohio College Republican Federation and the College Republican National Committee in furthering the platform of the Republican Party:

   --Winning the War on Terror

   --Increasing Economic Growth

   --Strengthening our Communities

   --Protecting our Families

Our Purpose

Our Purpose is relatively straight forward. We will work with the Licking County Republican Party to promote Republican candidates and conservative issues.

Between April and November, we will actively campaign for these candidates and issues through door to door canvassing of the campus and community, staffing the phone banks, stuffing envelopes, making literature drops, attending rallies, marches, as well as any other form of grassroots campaigning to help ensure continued Republican Party victories in the years to come.

After a week or two of rest, we will work to strengthen the Party by adding new members and holding activities such as movie nights, concerts, guest speakers, community service projects, and field trips to build friendships and a greater sense of camaraderie. With these projects we will not only help the community and learn more about ourselves, Ohio, the nation, and who we are as Americans and Republicans, but also gain recognition and respect for our campus and our Party.

It is our goal to further swell the ranks of the Republican Party and help the community, but more importantly strive to be the best party on Campus.

Mission

The College Republicans of Newark Campus strive to:

--Promote the values and ideals of the Republican Party

--Help Republican officials gain and maintain office in all levels of government

--encourage leadership development in our members

--uphold a positive image of young adults and assert their influence by embracing Conservative ideals

--Promote Compassionate Conservatism through service to our community here in Newark

--Preserve and protect the United States Constitution
