On May 27, 2008, former baseball player and coach
Tyler Hack was presented his retired jersey at the annual Spring Sports
Awards Banquet. Hack, a pitcher from Mt. Gilead, was a team member from
2002 to 2005, then wore number 33 as an assistant coach in 2006 and head
coach in 2007.
As a student-athlete, Hack was rewarded both on and off the field. He
claimed the Pitcher of the Year title in 2005 and First Team All-Ohio
Regional Campus Conference honors in 2004 and 2005. In addition, he was
a three-time ORCC All-Academic team honoree. In his college career,
Hack was 19-9 on the mound and led the Titans to one ORCC Championship and two
runner-up finishes.
Following his success as a student-athlete, Hack took on the challenge
of assistant coach in 2006 and was named Head Coach in 2007. The Titans
completed the 2007 season 9-3 (25-12 overall) and claimed second place
in the ORCC. The team then went undefeated in the ORC State Tournament
to bring home its first tournament title in eight years.
Hack graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts and
is currently completing a Master of Science in Sports Management from
the University of Southern Mississippi. He is employed by The Ohio
State University Mansfield as the Coordinator of Athletics and
Recreation and Head coach of the men's baseball team.
