ACADEMIC & HONORS ORGANIZATIONS
Kappa Phi Kappa (Ohio State
University at Newark Education Honorary)
Our focus is reaching out to
Newark campus students who have an interest in the field of education. Our primary
emphasis is exposure to classrooms, attendance at conferences and informational
presentations.
Laurel Collegiate
Honor Society (Honor Society)
The Laurel Collegiate Society strives
to promote and reward academic excellence and achievement, to foster academic
growth of students and the Ohio State Newark campus to encourage relationship
between honor students and faculty, improve academic environment and provide
opportunities for all students of the campus.
Phi Theta Kappa (COTC Academic
Honorary)
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize
and encourage scholarship among two-year college students and provide the opportunity
for growth and development
through leadership and service as well as to foster positive intellectual stimulation
through dialogue, presentations and experiences.
Psi Chi (Ohio State University
at Newark Psychology Honorary)
Psi Chi is a national honor society
whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship
of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance
the science of psychology.
Newark Campus Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors serve in
multiple capacities, the most visible of which may be as the campus tour guides
by guiding, directing, informing and teaching prospective students what to expect
from campus life. Student Ambassadors also serve as special assistants representing
the students' broader campus communities. Special events include concerts, grand openings,
alumni events, new student orientations, conferences, etc.
ATHLETIC & RECREATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
Fencing Club
The
purpose is to promote fencing as a viable means for students, faculty, and staff
to reach a higher level of physical and mental well being.
Titan Intramurals Club
Provides members with opportunities
to engage and interact in fair, safe, and recreational sports programs.
COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS
Newark Campus Habitat for
Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a club
that informs and educates people about housing issues for at-risk families in the
United States and around the world. Habitat helps build homes in conjunction with
the local affiliate and carries out activities such as Alternative Break trips to
work with Habitat for Humanity’s Collegiate Challenge program.
GOVERNANCE ORGANIZATIONS
Newark Campus Student
Activities Board (SAB)
The Student Activities Board
is the major programming organization on the Newark campus of Central Ohio
Technical College and The Ohio State University at Newark. The Board's purpose
is to provide programs of a cultural, recreational, social, and educational
nature. The Student Activities Board strives to bring the most innovative,
exciting, and popular entertainment to the students of the Newark campus, whom
they serve.
Student Government Newark
Campus (SGNC)
The Student Government provides
an outlet for student opinions on matters of student interest, building leadership
among members, enabling students to contribute to the overall objectives of
the Newark campus and the welfare of the community. SGNC is a representative body
for all students on the Newark campus and is responsible for conveying their wishes
and desires to the faculty, staff, and administration.
MULTI-CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS
DIRECTIONS
DIRECTIONS is a gay/straight
alliance for the Newark campus community which provides a safe and supportive environment
for the exploration of issues pertaining to sexual orientation and non-traditional
gender identity. DIRECTIONS also sponsors outreach and educational events to increase
understanding of these issues on the Newark campus.
Ebonye Horizons
The Ebonye Horizons club is for
students to share and learn different cultural knowledge as well as to
introduce new and current students to a new world. Ebonye Horizons will help to
bring more diverse backgrounds to the Newark campus.
Student Cultural Council
The objectives and
purposes of the Student Cultural Council (SCC) are to support designated
programs offered by the Office of Multi-Cultural Affairs through advertisements,
demonstrations, and participation, as well as support other cultural and diverse
organizations.
SPECIAL
INTEREST ORGANIZATIONS
The Buckeye Business Club
The purpose is to provide an
opportunity for students to become familiar with the business community
and the opportunities available in the business field. This will also get
students introduced to opportunities available through the campus, the club and
the Fisher College of Business.
Collectible Card Game Club
The purpose is to bring together
students on the Newark campus who enjoy playing CCG's.
College Republicans
This organization's purpose is to
engage in the study of and foster the understanding of Republican ideals.
COTC Radiographic
Technology
The purpose is to support and
encourage radiology students in their educational experience through recreational,
social and educational activities.
Democrats
of the Newark Campus
The purpose of this organization is to
engage in the study of and foster the understanding of Democratic ideals.
Digital Media Design Students
(DMDS)
The purpose is to promote, enhance,
and further develop educational and social achievements and interests in digital
media.
Forensic Science Club
The purpose is to develop in
prospective members an understanding of the organization; provide for the members
a voice in matters affecting them; influence the conditions under which prospective
members are being prepared for their professional roles in society; and advance
the interest and welfare of prospective members.
Future
Federal Law Enforcement Club
The purpose is to prepare interested
students physically and academically for careers in federal law enforcement.
Also to advocate careers in federal law enforcement to those who might not have
otherwise been interested.
History Club
of the Newark Campus
The purpose of the organization is to engage in
and to foster the understanding of history.
Introspect (Psychology Club)
The objectives and purposes of Introspect are to promote,
enhance and further develop educational and social achievements and interests in
psychology; influence the conditions under which prospective members are being
prepared for their professional role in society, and advance the interest
and welfare of the prospective members. Ten percent of all money received in
each fund raiser will be donated to the Ruth Scott-Sara Staats Memorial
Scholarship Fund. Activities sponsored by Introspect include community service,
volunteer work, bake sales, cookouts, ice skating, bonfires, bowling, movie
nights, and attending research conferences.
Newark Earthworks
The objectives and purposes of the Newark Earthworks Club
are to educate students about Earthworks in our area and other areas and the
culture and history surrounding them; provide an opportunity for members to
visit Earthwork sites; and to create learning opportunities for others
interested in learning about the mounds.
Outside The Box
The purpose is to encourage members
to research improvisatory theatre.
Philosophical Society of the Newark Campus
The purpose is to encourage free
thought and debate on the Newark campus.
Rough Draft: The
English Club at The Ohio State University at Newark
The English club will serve as a
centralized organization purposed to facilitate activities centered on the study
and love of all things English.
S.N.O. – Student Nurses Organization
The purpose is to assume responsibility
for contributing to nursing education in order to provide the highest quality health
care and to provide support and communication among the students in nursing education.
Surgical Technology Student
Organization
The purpose is to bring Surgical
Technology students closer together, to raise money to provide the students with
equal finances to attend conferences and functions, and to help around campus.
ACTIVITIES
Ski Club
The Ski club promotes social
interaction between COTC and Ohio State Newark students while enjoying the healthy,
physical exercise of downhill skiing.
NON-ACTIVE ORGANIZATIONS
Alite

Alite's purpose is to glorify God, and
to be a positive force on campus and in the community by showing God's love
through fellowship, worship, and acts of kindness and service.
Bipartisan Alliance
of the Newark Campus
(not active)
The purpose is to promote bipartisan
cooperation.
Broadway Bound
(not active)
The purpose of this organization is to
expose students and the community whom may (or may not) have been previously
exposed to any musical theatre.
BuckeyeThon Newark
(not active)
BuckeyeThon raises money for
Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Children's Miracle Network, participates
in the annual dance marathon, and informs the community of their efforts.
Campus
Crusade for Christ (not active)
Campus Crusade for Christ gives
opportunities to hear and respond to the gospel of salvation through faith in Christ
Jesus as well as helping individuals form a relationship with God. Activities include
Bible studies, social events, and concerts.
College Gaming League Club at Ohio
State Newark and COTC

The goal of this organization is to
further gaming on this campus; to promote gaming and bring gamers together on
campus.
International Multicultural
Association (IMA)- (not Active)
The purpose of the organization
is to foster support and awareness of ongoing social issues, events and topics affecting
the global society.
Invest- The
Business and Marketing
Club
(not active)
The purpose is to offer students from
all fields and disciplines an extra-curricular opportunity to prepare for the
work force and graduate school in all matters of business. The group will assist
members in orientation and networking with resources and prospective employers.
Invest programs will be an opportunity to learn about and discuss current issues
in business, economics, finance and management. Invest is the OSUN/COTC student
branch of The Marketing Research Association.

The Ohio State University at
Newark Honors organization strives to promote and reward academic excellence and
achievement, to foster academic growth of students and the Ohio State Newark campus
to encourage relationship between honors students and faculty, improve the academic

OSUN Dodge Ball Club (not

The Dodge Ball Club offers students an opportunity to
participate in dodge ball games.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club strives to get students involved
on campus, to promote teamwork and commitment, to promote exercise and to have
fun.
Project S.T.R.I.V.E. (Serving
Together Responsibly in Volunteer Efforts)

The purpose of Project STRIVE
is to seek out and respond to the social and economic needs of the community. The
organization engages students in events and activities through volunteerism and
service, while promoting service-learning opportunities through personal growth
and reciprocal experiences.
Scrapbooking Club-Scrapworks

The mission of this organization
is designed to provide a space for students who enjoy scrapbooking to create and
exchange ideas.
Wild Carrot: The Newark Campus Hungry Minds –Film Association

The purpose of this organization
is to provide an educational forum for the discussion of culturally diverse films.
The organization also seeks to provide a forum for the discussion of the logistics
of film making.
