General Information

Place holderThe Newark Campus Library, located on the main floor in Founders Hall, is a cost-shared department serving both the students/faculty/staff of Ohio State University at Newark as well as the students/faculty/staff of Central Ohio Technical College. As such, it delivers the full gamut of library resources and services including but not limited to reference service, library instruction, collaboration areas, interlibrary loan, reserves, laptop computers, and database access as effectively as possible regardless of college affiliation.

The Library houses about:
50,000 print volumes,
375 serial subscriptions,
1000 audio tapes/CDs and video cassettes/DVDs,
1,200 maps.

As part of the Ohio State University library system and the OhioLINK consortium, the Library provides access to over 9 million unique items including 36,000 e-books and nearly 7,000 full text electronic journals.

Because the library long ago outgrew its current facility, plans are underway to build the John & Christine Warner Library & Student Center which will open in 2008.

Grants and Donations

The Newark Campus Library has been the very favored recipient of two generous financial donations to be used to build a new facility. Just prior to his death, John Warner, a local businessman, donated $4.5 million towards the building of a new library facility. His wife, Christine Warner, then donated $5 million dollar in a trust fund to OSUN and another $5 million dollar trust to COTC, both to be used in the building of the new facility.

Disability Services

Patrons requiring special accommodation should call ahead (740-366-9307). The current facility is not conducive to the needs of the physically challenged. For example, materials are located on 2 floors with wheelchair access to the lower lever being available via elevator at the opposite end of the building. The stacks are full with both top and bottom shelves being used. The new Library Center is aggressively addressing access issues.
