Concurrent Enrollment |
|
High
school students may be eligible to enroll at
Central Ohio Technical
College before completing requirements for high school graduation. Accepted
Concurrent Enrollment students are assessed tuition and fees at
one-half the regular cost; however, the student is responsible for
the full cost of books.
The
maximum number of credit hours for Concurrent Enrollment is 45.

Concurrent Enrollment Eligibility
Requirements:
- Student must submit the
Concurrent Enrollment Application for Admission form with a
non-refundable $20 application fee.
- Student must be
currently enrolled in an Ohio high school.
- Student must submit a
letter of recommendation from high school guidance counselor or
principal.
- Student must have at least
a 2.5 cumulative high school GPA.
- Student must achieve
qualifying scores on the free COTC COMPASS Placement Test (a
score of 32 or higher on writing, 62 or higher on reading and 25
or higher on math) or waiver eligibility based on ACT/SAT
results.
- After acceptance, the
student and a parent must attend a new student orientation prior
to registering for classes.

Concurrent
Home Schooled Eligibility Requirements:

- Student must submit the
Concurrent Enrollment Application for Admission form with a
non-refundable $20 application fee.
- Student must achieve
qualifying scores on the COTC Compass Assessment Test (a score
of 32 of higher on the writing, 62 or higher on the reading and
25 or higher on math) or waiver eligibility based on ACT scores.
- Student must submit a copy
of school district communication to parent recognizing student
eligibility for home school instruction as outlined in OAC
3301-34-04.
- Student must have a
minimum age of 14 and a maximum age of 18 years old.

High
school students may be eligible to enroll at Central Ohio Technical
College and receive both high school and college credit. In
addition, tuition, fees, textbooks and materials are provided at
public expense.
The maximum number
of credit hours for PSEOP Option B participants is defined in
legislation. To determine the maximum number of credit hours PSEOP
Option B participants are eligible to complete, the Carnegie Units
Worksheet must be completed by the high school and submitted to COTC
prior to the student enrolling in courses each academic year. The
maximum number of credit hours for PSEOP Option A participates is 45
(effective for those enrolling for the first time Autumn Quarter
2003 and thereafter).
Students who enroll
in PSEOP Option B are limited in the courses in which they are
eligible to enroll. As defined in legislation, a student may not
enroll in a course at COTC if they had taken a course in the same
subject area in high school and failed to attain a cumulative 3.0
GPA. To determine course eligibility, the GPA Calculator must be
completed by the high school and submitted to COTC prior to the
student enrolling in courses.

Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Eligibility Requirements:

Student must submit Post-Secondary Enrollment Application for
Admission form with a non-refundable $20 application fee.

Student
must be currently enrolled in a chartered Ohio high school.

Juniors and seniors must have at least a 3.0 cumulative high
school GPA; freshman and sophomores must have at least a 3.5
cumulative high school GPA.

Student must achieve qualifying scores on the free COTC COMPASS
Placement Test (a score of 75 or higher on writing, 85 or higher
on reading and 44 or higher on math) or a score of 19 or higher
on ACT English, 18 or higher on ACT Math and 20 or higher on ACT
Reading or a score of 490 or higher on SAT Verbal and 440 or
higher on SAT Math.

Student must submit a copy of the signed high school form
indicating appropriate counseling has been achieved.
- After
acceptance, the student and a parent must attend a new student
orientation prior to registering for classes.

Student must have on file both the Carnegie Units Worksheet and
GPA Calculator prior to registering for classes.
