TechConnect Services
TechConnect is an innovative approach to delivering Student to Student Technical
Help to all students on Newark Campus. TechConnect is staffed by student workers
who report to the Information and Technology Services. Newark Campus is
committed to providing students with the best technical help available right in
the open labs on campus.

Email help-line
Do you have a technical question but don’t feel like coming to the campus? Just email TechConnect and you will get an answer to your questions within 24 hours. TechConnect will help you with anything from saving to a USB key to creating a video for class, or making a killer PowerPoint.

Tutoring
Student to student tutoring services are available in F174. These
tutoring services are designed to help students with the software they need to
create their assignments. TechConnect tutors are here to help you with
PowerPoint, Word, image editing, website design, saving files, creating CDs and
more. TechConnect tutors are not able to create your projects for you, but they
will help with your questions about the software tools you need to use to meet
your class obligations.

Software and Hardware
TechConnect offers special software to help you be
successful. Mediator 7 and Open Mind are two new programs that allow you to
easily prepare web pages and/or presentations. These programs are available in
all the student labs and a TechConnect representative can help you use them. In
addition, the F174 lab offers specialized software for video and still image
editing, animation, web page creation and more.
F174 also has scanners and printers for student use. Pay to print is used in all student labs. For a complete list of software and hardware click on the Lab Info link in the Navigation Bar.
Video Viewing
If you need to watch a video for your class, bring it to F-174
or R-206. Here you will find individual viewing stations with earphones that
allow you to view the video and take the notes you need. Please be considerate
of the lab hours and make sure you will be done before the lab needs to close.
The Lab Hours are posted on the bulletin boards around campus and the Lab Info
link in the Navigation Bar above.
Equipment Checkout
TechConnect now has still and video cameras available for
Students to check out, to work on class projects. You will need your professor’s
permission to check out the equipment and make sure you have your student ID
with you. If you have any questions please visit F-174 or email TechConnect.
Saving Data to the Virtual Drive ("H:" Drive)
All students have 50 mg of secure storage on campus servers. You can save documents to your "H" drive from home or from a lab computer.

When you log in with your Newark Campus Account, the "H" drive is available on the desktop of the lab computer. You may also access your files from any multimedia room computer by logging in with your Newark Campus Account information.
