Goal: The ITS department Help Desk will create and maintain accurate software tracking procedures that maximize campus use of purchased and registered software, ensure accurate documentation of deployed software, successfully complete software audits, and provide data for efficient purchasing strategies.
Assumptions:
The ITS department purchases and installs software on campus workstations.
The ITS department is involved in the purchase of software deployed on campus workstations.
The ITS department has resources available to store, document, audit and report on software deployed on campus.
Newark Campus requires accurate software tracking to assure efficiencies and compliance with licensing.
Definitions:
Enterprise Software – Software deployed campus wide from servers.
Campus Agreements – Software licensed for campus wide use.
Individual workstation software – software loaded individually on a workstation.
Lab software – software loaded on a lab image for multiple workstation use in a lab setting.

All procedures will be recorded, updated and maintained on the L drive in the Help Desk folder for department review by the Help Desk. The SOP written documentation will be available in the resource room in the Help Desk SOP manual.
Assessment:
The policy will be reviewed at six month intervals. Recommendations for changes will be documented and sent to the Assistant Director of ITS for approval.
