ITS CIO Policies - PowerPoint Presentations on the Web Policy
Policy for PowerPoint Presentations on the Web
We will no longer support PowerPoint
presentations posted to the Internet via faculty websites or online
courses.
Reasons for policy change:
We cannot turn the print option off for a
web based PowerPoint presentation posted via a faculty page or
an online course.
Many PowerPoint presentations are created
in color in order to enhance a faculty member’s presentation,
but our printers in the open computer labs do not support color
printing.
PowerPoint presentations can consist of
many slides. When multiple students in the same lab print the
presentations, the printers can lock up causing a delay for all
printing in that lab.
With a large PowerPoint presentation the
print job can consume much, if not all, of the students’
allotted printing costs.
Alternatives
As a continued effort to support our faculty
members and our students without affecting the quality of multimedia
offerings, we are offering the following alternatives.
Convert the presentations into a .pdf
format or an .rtf format from the outline version of the
original presentation.
Convert the presentations into a .pdf
format from the original presentation in a 3, 4, or 6 slides per
page format.
If option 2 does not render the images of
the presentation at an acceptable resolution, we can offer an
additional link to the images in their original resolution from
either the faculty member’s website or online course.
If you need any assistance in creating the
alternative formats, please contact the HelpDesk at 740-366-9244.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience
this policy change may cause.
If you have trouble accessing
this page and need to request an alternate format, contact the Webmaster
at 740-364-9561.
