ITS CIO Policies - Guest Accounts for Wireless Network
Guest Accounts for Wireless Network on the Campus of COTC and OSUN
The security of the network on the campus is paramount to the ITS
Department. The wireless network on the campus affords convenience
and privilege to its users and the ITS Department is committed to
providing safe and secure access to guest users.
All registered students, faculty members and staff have secure network
usernames and passwords that allow access to the wireless network.
All other visitors and guests on campus must request a username and
password to the wireless network that will allow access to the internet.
Guests may request a username and password at the library or the
Help Desk located in Founders 196 per the following procedure:
Procedure:
A formal request for guest logins and passwords must come to
the Help Desk at Founders 196 or by calling X244. Guest accounts
can also be assigned by Campus library staff. The Library and/or
Help Desk will record the following information:
Date(s) the logins and passwords will be used to access the
network
Name, phone number, and complete address of requestor
The Help Desk or Library will verify identity of the requestor
by viewing a picture ID
The requestor will be given a username and password to access
the wireless network.
A separate login and password is required for every person who
accesses the network and the logins and passwords cannot be assigned
to multiple users.
The Help Desk and library will maintain documentation of all
guest accounts on the network drives as per department protocol.
The library will submit the documentation of the guest accounts
to the Help Desk at the end of each quarter for proper preservation
by the Help Desk.
The Help Desk will record the information on the ITS Guest Account
file and save it on the server for access upon request by any network
administrator or law enforcement officer with a warrant for such
information.
All guest accounts will remain active for the duration of the
quarter in which they were assigned.
