The Ohio State University Newark
Purpose:
Create a 3 year strategic plan to integrate
academic support services on Newark Campus.
Goals:
Information and Technology Services, will research, plan, secure funding for, and deliver technology to accomplish the following:
- Develop e-learning initiatives that increase access to academic programs.
- Integrate research and the undergraduate experience at Newark Campus.
- Integrate library and academic student services (LAC, Disability Management, math & writing labs, remedial computer training) for anytime, anywhere access to students.
- Coordinate web page functions to serve faculty and student goals.
- Pursue innovative and cutting edge solutions to hardware and software requirements of academic programs.
- Initiate and administer student technology support – student help desk, lab assistants, multimedia support, student ITS web page, and trained IT student workers in the library, academic labs, and student government offices.
- Increase technology in the classroom by increasing technology enabled classrooms, evaluating specific program needs of and uses for technology, and collaborating with other institutions.
These goals support the following initiatives of The Ohio State University Academic Plan and Leadership Agenda.
- Strengthen the undergraduate experience
- Enhance the quality of the teaching and learning
environment
- Transform the library into a 21t century Information Age center within the next 5 to 10 years.
- Upgrade the quality of our classroom pool space and enhance the appearance of the campus facilities and grounds
- Provide faculty, staff and student with the latest technology tools for leadership in teaching, research, and career development within the next five years.
- Invest in technology to support faculty teaching and
student learning.
